The head of state said that they will do everything “in our power” to find whatever they can, especially the remains of the victims, “because we know what it means for the families to receive their missing loved ones.” “At this moment of grief (the rescue) will not solve the problem, but it will be a huge relief to know that the families can bury their loved ones,” added Lula. According to the latest official information, French and Brazilian boats have recovered 17 bodies of the passengers of Air France’s Airbus, as well as parts of the aircraft. The French airline confirmed that the serial number on a blue back seat recovered on Saturday corresponded with the Airbus that flew flight AF447 a week ago, and disappeared from radar hours after taking off from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. The bodies and objects recovered at sea will be transferred to the Brazilian city of Recife, where one of the two command posts was set up by the authorities in charge of rescue efforts, and where they perform the identification efforts. The searches are concentrated around a radius 220 km long, centering on the point where the plane is believed to have crashed, approximately 704 kilometers from the Brazilian archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, about 1296 km from Recife and close to the uninhabited cliffs near the city of Sao Pedro.last_img read more
